Okay, I know I'm a bit late off the blocks here folks, but who cares. I just want to heartily agree that this band is summat a bit special and Burlesque/EP are the complete and utter dogs danglies. Some albums are nice to dip into now and again (Bellow and Through and Through), others scream at you to be played. Having had Burlesque and EP for only a month or so, I'm still at the stage where, if I don't have a daily dose of either or both, I go all weak and pathetic and can't function. I'm not sure if that wears off after a while. Rochdale Coconut Dance should be the new national anthem. Prickle Eye Bush should come out as a single, whereupon it would go straight to Number 1, finally laying the ghost of Day Trip to Bangor as popular folk music in the public's eyes. Oh Yes!

Great that they've given Rambling Sailor a contemporary lyric too. Anyone else hearing "When my phone starts, and a flatter ring tone, I caught their mobile phone in me arm"? I have to say I like the image anyway.
The Rescue Rooms, Nottingham, was my first live experience of Bellowhedonism. Everything was brilliant, but especially loved The Outlandish Knight and Frogs Legs and DT. Just as it's beginning to seem way too long till the spring, along comes the great god of funky folk and books ?em in at Celtic Connections. Thank you god!

Hehe, welcome! I hate to be the one to break the news, but so far as I'm aware, the magic doesn't fade...we've been plotting next year's gigs too! I'm hoping to get up to Celtic Connections from my home in the deep south, so I shall probably see you there

Hi firebird82, have you any idea whereabouts the ABC is in Glasgow? I notice Mercedes Peon is playing at CC the following night. I think that's got to be a weekend to relish - Boden and Peon have quite different voices but I find both completely enthralling.

Ha, what a question! I've never been to Glasgow It's all one big mystery to me, except that I have a friend who moved up this year (and apparently lives down the road from a brothel...I'm guessing it's not in that part of town!), so I *finally* have reason to splash out on the extortionate train fare. It does look like that'll be a good weekend though - I'd like to see Fiddler's Bid again as well. Mercedes Peon does sound interesting - I might have to add that to my list too!

RE:Bellowhedonism (currently suffering from)
(Date Posted:13/11/2007 8:09 AM)
Apart from the obvious, my other musical favourites are Antony and the Johnsons and Marc Almond. I didn't get to see Marc live though until this year when I was lucky to see him in his first full concert since his motorbike accident, at Wiltons music hall. After this he did a few more shows including Bristol [where I live] and Glasgow, which was at the ABC. It was an excellent venue much better than any converted Academys. It would be a good venue for Bellowhead. It is on one of the main shopping streets, not far from the Scottish Assemby. Not sure that i will be going as we are planning a little trip around Wales instead. Although could change minds depending on when hte Peatbog Faeries are playing at Celtic Connections
