When first getting into folk I had a couple of BBC Folk Awards CDs, so heard Rambling Sailor and though it was pretty amazing. Then we went to Cambridge Folk Fest this year. We saw them on Saturday, and then had to see them on Sunday too! And we've never quite been the same since
And therein lies my reason too Although I have the distinct misfortune of having been in a really filthy mood when Betty first played it to me, so of course I wasn't going to like it! I was, however, utterly convinced right from the start at Cambridge Does that make up for it? As for not being quite the same since, I think that the neighbours are probably cursing, because now the sounds of combined flute and tin whistle can often be heard merrily attempting to play folk music...sometimes even succeeding!!
