CD arrived through the door which had been ordered by the OH and once it was played for the first time I was hooked. Simple as that.

Well I guess it was due to Jools Holland that I discovered Bellowhead.    Missed the programme but decided to decided to buy Burlesque anyway without even hearing a track.    Had not heard of Spiers and Boden then despite seeing Eliza several times [but without Ratcatchers].Immediately hooked.    I bought tickets for Pontardawe [we live in Bristol].    Stood at the front and OH was even more hooked!!!!     Then bought EP.     Since then been at the front at Trowbridge, Shrewsbury and Bristol.     So I guess I've been in some of your company without knowing it [only just discovered this forum though!!!!].     OH is a keen photographer [Music Festival Photo] and has some excellent photos taken at Shrewsbury [we were next to Sam Sweeney's parents].     He will put some piccies on for you at some point, I am sure.

I really cant remember when/ how / why  I discovered them, probably random internet stumblings- how i seem to discover most of my music.....what i do know however is that they ROCKED at Glastonbury, easily the best band of the weekend and I danced like a lunatic at the front all the way through!

When first getting into folk I had a couple of BBC Folk Awards CDs, so heard Rambling Sailor and though it was pretty amazing. Then we went to Cambridge Folk Fest this year. We saw them on Saturday, and then had to see them on Sunday too! And we've never quite been the same since

And therein lies my reason too Although I have the distinct misfortune of having been in a really filthy mood when Betty first played it to me, so of course I wasn't going to like it! I was, however, utterly convinced right from the start at Cambridge Does that make up for it?

As for not being quite the same since, I think that the neighbours are probably cursing, because now the sounds of combined flute and tin whistle can often be heard merrily attempting to play folk music...sometimes even succeeding!!

Two fantastic performances. I don't like to think how many years we've been going to the Cambridge Folkfest, but that Sunday night was the best festival-closing performance I've seen by anybody. Ever.

I totally agree with every word of that.
