$%*'`[Mike Armstrong]%*'`@Yes, the other half was refusing to go the the Scala again, after two Bellowhead gigs there. She loved the Drill Hall and the Royal Opera house gigs, so I need something to tempt her to the Empire....

mmmmm..... Has any one else noticed the vast distances between gigs in the middle of bellowhead sept/oct tour? Cambridge to Bristol then London and finally Leeds, thats the best part of 500 miles in four days. Thats quite a trip...

I see Bellowhead have Chris-TT as support for the tour.

That's good, I like Chris, but its unusual! I can only recall one Bellowhead concert having a support act before (not counting festivals)  - at the second Scala gig. So why the support this tour?

Cheers

Nick

It's the Jim Moray Trio that's doing the support. Just listen to this. What's there not to be pleased about?

I just got this rather strange and amusing email from Amazon...

We've noticed that customers who have purchased or rated music by Richard Thompson have also purchased Bellowhead Ticket - Shepherds Bush 26 Sep 2007 (Amazon Exclusive) by Bellowhead. For this reason, you might like to know that Bellowhead Ticket - Shepherds Bush 26 Sep 2007 (Amazon Exclusive) will be released on 5 September 2007. You can pre-order yours for just ?9.00 by following the link below.

I'm intrigued at the concept of pre-ordering tickets...

It's a nice idea to sell the tickets through Amazon. I think Amazon admin have got a few bugs to work out if they're going to make a go of selling tickets though - they have these filed as an Audio CD!

Oh, the delights of an automated mail-out.

Amazon has just sent out the following:

Unfortunately, the release date for the item(s) listed below was
changed by the supplier, and we
need to provide you with a new estimated delivery date based on the new
release date:

Bellowhead (Artist) "Bellowhead Ticket - Shepherds Bush 26 Sep 2007

Estimated arrival date: 14/09/07 - 17/09/07Unfortunately, the release date for the item(s) listed below was changed by the supplier, and we need to provide you with a new estimated delivery date based on the new release date:

So peeps now have to wait till next week and see whether a ticket or a CD or anything at all wings its way through the post.

Yes, it's all a bit confusing and nervewracking for me...I had tickets booked through Amazon, but after three e-mails informing me of changes, and seeing the tickets go onsale elsewhere I couldn't stand it any longer and ordered them through Shepherd's Bush Empire instead.

It's a shame because I was really intrigued by the idea of getting tickets through Amazon, I don't quite understand how it's supposed to work however...

Anyway, I have my ticket now, very veeeery excited! Dancing a jig in fact!

Amazon's latest estimated time of arrival of tickets is now 17th to 20th November. Isn't this is just a bit late . . . ?

Hi

I've been on to Amazon who assure me all tickets will be dispatched this week.
Apparently their systems are finding it unexpectedly difficult to deal with tickets instead of cds....

This is the latest info I have

The tickets are on their way to Amazon for despatch tomorrow / Friday. Delivery Sat / Sun / Mon

If there are any dramas (postal strike etc.) we will contact people individually and make arrangements on the night (we will have a full list of names).
The timing is no different from Ticketmaster it's just that Amazon.co.uk is set up for CDs so looks confusing.

Its the morning of the Shepherds Bush gig and still no tickets via Amazon despite phone calls and emails. Everything crossed the tickets will arrive in the post today as Amazon says they are dispatched! Anyone else in the same position? Anyone seen any advice apart from that from Amazon and the Bellowhead website? Venue seems to know nothing about the Amazon problem.

Desperate to go as its a birthday treat and I've yet to see Bellowhead live despite seeing S&B 3 times this year!

Any advice gratefully received!!!!

NEWS - re: ticketing for the Shepherds Bush Empire and Amazon

IF YOUR AMAZON TICKETS HAVE NOT YET ARRIVED - YOU CAN STILL GET IN

It's been an absolute nightmare for the band to have this go wrong for such a big gig.  We're really sorry that people have had these problems and would like to assure you that if you haven't recieved your tickets, you will still be able to get in if you give us your names (there will be a list of names on the door of all the people who bought through Amazon)

Wow!.

They really pulled out all the stops for the DVD. There was just so much energy on stage and from the audience, definitely a special night and Jim Moray's set was thoroughly enjoyable too.

I almost gave this one a miss because I was feeling a bit under the weather, (I sincerely hope the crowd shots in the DVD won't include me hunched over the barrier or otherwise looking not too well), but so glad I didn't.....I wouldn't be able to forgive myself once I saw the DVD if I'd stayed home, I'm sure it's going to be tremendous.

fantastic, fantastic night...band in top form as ever, really enjoying themselves - as were we! loved the lassooing, great fun, and fab to hear a new song at last! my other half was sick and couldn't come (gutted) so i dragged a mate along who'd never heard of them before but loved it and was going straight out to buy 'burlesque' today!

[note to the idiots behind me though - if you can't cope with people dancing, don't stand right at the front! take yourselves off to the sides and let us enjoy ourselves without you poking us in the back and tutting. oh and your braying voices chatting through all the quiet bits was a colossal pain in the arse...and as for the deeply unpleasant middle-aged man who greeted the lovely sight of a young boy hosted onto his dad's shoulders with 'get the brat down'....words fail me. i really hope i never see you at another gig]

[sorry for the gripe but it's been bugging me - bellowhead gigs are usually full of such lovely people but this lot really didn't seem to get it!]

Perhaps they thought they were going to hear 'Dixieland Jazz' (not that Dixieland jazz fans are necessarily grumpy types) which is how Bellowhead were described in TheLondonPaper previewette (really, we tore the page out so we know we weren't hallucinating !)

Shepherd's Bush was awesome, AWESOME and indeed AWEsome!

I was a couple of people from the front and had such a good time I got sort of choked up about going, despite TWO encores, a new song AND having a mini chat with Mr Boden and a photo with Mr Spiers. Really can't express the bouncy, boingy, jumpy, squishy, squeezy happy-thoughts I've had since the other night. I realised at one point I was pulling the same exact expression as Squeezy, the sort of content cat lying in the sunshine happy smirk not only during the gig but for hours afterwards...just brilliant.

As for the folk who didn't seem to get the 'folk'...I think it's because Bellowhead are sort of 'crossing the line' ...'ahem'...between the traditional and the more funky big-band elements and some of the older ones maybe aren't used to us young 'uns finding it impossible not to express our joy through the power of hopping and jigging...bloody hell it's the point isn't it though? It shows respect to the band if you join in haha, I tried my best and I was loving the new song.

I have never had a better time at a live concert, just watching the guys do their thing is some kind of wonder drug. Thanks guys, I had a cold that miraculously disappeared for a few hours, it's a wonder drug, a magic potion, it's a serious addiction...and I've already got withdrawal despite it being about 48hrs since I was in London Town...sigh...

Being a newcomer to Bellowhead's music, I didn't know quite what to expect from last Tuesday's gig at Shepherd's Bush; I had heard them on Mike Harding's R2 programme a couple of weeks earlier and to be honest, I thought they sounded a bit like the Bonzos meet the Wurzels (maybe it was my radio). Anyway, seeing them live allayed all my fears and I really enjoyed the evening (despite the undrinkable Guinness).  I've never seen such an age range at a folk concert; from seventies to teens, all enjoying the music. The only kids I saw (possibly the 'brats' that Mr Angry was referring to), appeared to belong to the wonderful Tamsin Greig who I spotted early on; so not only do Bellowhead have a marvellously loyal  following, they have a pretty classy one too!

Maybe I should know the answer to this has quite a devoted Bellowhead follower but who was the photograph of that was on stage during the London gig? Has be made an appeance during the rest of the tour and if so what is the link to Bellowhead?

Does anyone know as it has caused much discussion in our house this week.
