Mmm... music.

The mere mention of Katie Melua and Norah Jones makes me want to remove their tongues and lock them up

Me, lemme think:

Tori Amos (although of late she's gone a bit fucking odd)

Tom Waits

Jim White

Little Death Orchestra

Live

Ben Harper

Queen

Fiona Apple

Jepp

Morrissey/The Smiths

Goldfrapp

Soundgarden

Holly Cole

Kathryn Williams

Hank Williams

Chris Isaak

Regina Spektor

Abra Moore

16 Horsepower

And likely a helluva lot more!

Best gig? Um, Tori Amos, solo in London 99. Simply for Juarez. Juarez solo piano with the improv at the end about her miscarriages *shudders*

Oh my.

Failing her, it would have to be Martyn Bennett just about anywhere I saw him. Is anyone off to his memorial concert?

It's in Edinburgh on 15th April. I'll be there hopefully! Have tickets now need travel and accomodation

And aye. Of late. She's just gone a bit soft really, has our Tori. Sadly. I want her to start hammering out tunes on the piano again and ditch that sodding band and stop playing nice little ditties

You couldn't get any weirder than singing songs about "pissing in the river", surely?!!

*giggles*

Oh ye can... ye definitely can *winks*

The one I love is "I never left you for a banjo, I only just turned around, for a poodle and a corvette" )

And oh my. You should hear her of late. She just released an album with a song called The Power of Orange Knickers *giggles more* Which is my adopted child. I claimed it. It's mine! I call it POOK, affectionately )

And when she talks about writing songs and tunes and stepping into sonic shapes and needing to piece it together before it allows her to leave the shape, creatnig maybe a window or a door?

Oh yes. It can get weirder ;o)

But I just want her to play the goddamned piano more! She is solo for this UK tour so fingers crossed! Bosey and Hammond *creams*

I LOVE  The Paperboys (rootsy, bluegrassy happy stuff!)

The Bills (as above)

The Corrs

I do like a bit of Disco when the mood strikes (so you can imagine how thrilled i was when i heard the Bellowhead disco sea shanty!!!!! , a hybrid of two of my fave music types!!)

Counting Crows

The LOTR Soundtracks

The Harry Potter soundtracks

The Lord of the Dance soundtracks.

I do have stacks and stacks of CD's, but most of them are from when i was still a pop fan when i was a teenager, i just don't listen to much anymore except folk and the above!!

My musical tastes are all over the place. I love folk and jazz and some pop/rock but my main interest is classical.  Not your namby-pamby Mozart or Bach but your full-bodied Stravinsky, Shostakovitch and Sibelius! I also like contemporary classical as well John Adams, James Macmillian, yes even Harrison Birtwistle.

If your talking pop stuff then I still listen to Tom Waits, Kate Bush, Supertramp and Genesis (I'll be skinned alive for mentioning the g-men).

I suppose you could say my record collection was eclectic!
