J and J seemed to be having a good time at Whitby Musicport. They played as Ratcatchers and as duo. It was strange watching them as a duo whilst sat down ( us that is not them)!Last Thursday I got married and we had chosen to sign the register to "The Dawn Chorus". Lots of people commented on the track ( as well as the fact that we walked in to "Let's get it on" by Marvin Gaye). But the weirdest thing was that while we were signing the the registers the Registrar turned round and said "This is Spiers and Boden. I love them! I saw them at Whitby last weekend." She also said how nice they were when she was helping with hospitality. It's a small world !

Congratulations on your marriage Trilby

It is indeed a small world. We were at Whitby too and spent much time seeing people in the audience and thinking "I know that person" even though we were 250 miles from our usual stomping ground.

How badly did your back ache after sitting on the wooden floor though? I was cross at having to sit down during Blowzabella as the people on seats behind me kept pestering that they couldn't see

Cheers

Nick

Thank you Nick and Anna. Yes, you're right about sitting on the floor. Some people may say it was a pain in the neck but I have a lower opinion of it !

I really enjoyed Blowzabella and did you see Guy Davis, I love his cds and singing but he must have gone for the longest tuning record of the festival!  There was so much good stuff at the festival ( Apache Indian, who would have thought it !) can't wait for next year.

My main regret of the festival was missing Kiki Dee ...

Congratulations Trilby (and on your choice of music too...)

Highlights of Whitby for me (apart from Blowzabella, who I have wanted to see for ages, and the usual suspects - EC and J&J!) were Yasmin Levy and Reem Kelani. Its a lovely festival I hope to go to again.

You are absolutely right about Reem Kelani. She was jaw droppingly good. Did you see the Indian jazz fusion band (Sami I think) ? They were brillaint. Also the Portugese Fado singer, there was just so much good stuff. I'm relly pleased there are some compadres here !

My wife and I ( I haven't written that before) went as a honeymoon before the wedding and it was just great, apart from them running out of beer and Trojan sound system not being quite as good as I'd hoped.
