The boys were on form last night at the new Wickham (formerly Eastleigh) Festival despite the small Thursday crowd. This is a new venue and I am not sure it is going to be great - it is a tarmac netball/basketball court in front of the stage . Jon gave a very appropriate tip to the audience with his tongue firmly in his cheek " don't fall down" - sadly this did not get through to one enthusiastic (drunk) dancer who fell flat on his faceThe Morris dancer clearly enjoyed himself - he was good though

Wickham was a really safe and friendly Festival. I enjoyed it immensely and would probably have been glad of the tarmac to dance on if it had been pouring with rain. I hear the Wickham Festival is expanding onto the adjoining fields in 2007 which should be a good move. I'll certainly be returning and hope either Spiers & Boden or Bellowhead will be booked again.

Having attended countless Festivals throughout the summer I think Wickham has the potential to be as good as Wychwood and Larmer Tree due to its lovely setting and very relaxed, friendly atmosphere. Even the security staff were smiling and everyone I spoke to seemed to be happy and having a great time.
