Great to see John and Jon on the very end of BBC2's Glastonbury coverage (I set the video so I didn't have to take the kids to school in my sleep) Bit of a pity they were billed as 'Spears and Bowden' though!Jane

It was Captain Ward. There are roundup programmes tonight BBC3 tonight and BBC4 on Friday - and the latter features the Jazz & World stage - dunno if it'll be repeated.

I've been scouring the net for hours trying to find who they were and now I know!
But, I want to hear this Captain Ward song again and I don't know were I can find it. Thier website seems to be extremely out of date when it comes to the discography and it isn't on their Myspace.
Any help in finding it much appreciated as I am desperate to hear it again.
Thanks

Sadly, Captain Ward is not one they have released yet (hint, hint!) but there ablum burlesque is well worth a listen if you want more of the same.

Well done for finding this site, it would've been a lot easier if the BBC had spelled their names right! You deserve a medal for enterprise

Buy any of their CDs, you won't be disappointed.

The discography is completely up to date, J&J have released these four albums to date as a duo (in between times they do solo stuff, and Bellowhead, lots of touring and what have you). However...I think we *must* be due for a new one soon <crosses fingers> and hopefully "Captain Ward" will be on it . Meanwhile, as Mrs A says, get any of the others - maybe start with "Songs", since you like this song - they're all completely superb.

Cheers

Fi

I never even got the Bowden part and didn't see the credit. They blew me away and so was determined to track them down. Shame I've got to wait until November (when they'll be in the neighbourhood) to see them live But the date's in my diary and I'm looking forward to it.Text to be set font.

I had to resort to asking some friends in the music industry, as both times I saw them play on the Glasters coverage (one was a repeat), I missed the name.  So glad to have found them; so sad to have found them on the one evening they are playing in my area and I'm stuck up in London at work.  *grrrrr*

Still, at least I know where to find their music now.   I do hope they release a CD with the Captain Ward song, as that was my first introduction to their music.

John'n'Jon have not yet (as far as I know) recorded Captain Ward & The Rainbow but you can hear it done (different tune, slightly different text) on the Dr Faustus 2003 recording The First Cut with Bellowheader Paul Sartin taking lead vocals.

Good lord! Where've you been?

We thought we'd bump into you at RFH or at Covent Garden or even at Oxford Folk Festival but nary a sign... Have you been ok?

Cheers

Wow!  Thank you for that.  I just found loads of clips on the duo, and some of Bellowhead, too.  Fab!

I am well thank you, if not a little tired ............  too much late night noise on the campsite!!!

Unfortunately I missed the Ratcatchers on Friday evening, as when I put the tent up, I discovered the elastic that holds the poles together had rotten, which made it extremely difficult to put up!!  And by the time we'd eaten, it was nearly 10 o'clock, so we just chilled out by the bar!

Oh well, maybe next time ......
