Hello, I think I might know who you are! At the Oxford Folk Festival, were you standing on the left (as you face the stage) for Spiers and Boden, and in the gallery, on the right, for Salsa Celtica? The person I think you are is the only person I recognise who's been at the gigs you've said you've been to. Is it you? But anyway, Oxford was brilliant- although it's a shame Spiers and Boden weren't on for very long, I'd much rather have seen less of the previous acts! I loved the new songs. And Salsa Celtica were fantastic- and Eliza too, a bonus! Sadly I could only afford to go on the Saturday, so I'll miss Eliza and the Ratcatchers.
YES! That was me! Ah....... found at last.
I'm sorry you missed the Ratcatchers it really was a great set and the J's should have been on longer, but then you never get to see enough of the artist you ready like do you?
Well now you know me by sight you'll have to give me a shout next time you see me.
Trunkles.

Those poor lads were on pretty much permanently through the weekend: they flew in from France on Saturday morning, played in two headline sets in the Main Hall plus an intimate set at Qi club to close the festival on Sunday* plus they each gave workshops on Sunday afternoon! Add to that Squeezy's DJ set late into the night at the Cellar Bar and Jon's session playing down at the Half Moon, they must have been knackered!
*hats off to Vikki of these pages for putting that together. Those who were able to squeeze in will agree it was really something special! (although the less said about the Kate Bush bit at the end the better probably! ... sorry about that )
What an excellent festival it was! Still didn't get to meet you though Trunkles...
Cheers

Yes .... sorry about that Nick.
I did pass you a number of times on Sunday but you alway seemed to to busy with other things and I didn't like to stop you! Hey next time...
The festival has been really good this year but the J's set at the Qi club has to be the highlight for me. Thank you vikki so much for setting that up and for the John's for playing, it was the perfect end to a really every perfect day...

Nor did I get to meet Trunkles (again..!)Ah well, one day. QI was lovely, though I really would have worn a fancy skirt had I known about the champagne. At least I had my sparkly shoes on!
I think we're all pretty tired, many thanks to the Jo(h)ns (they did work very hard) and absolutely everyone involved!
We are already planning next year (yes, really )
Cheers

I had a great time while I was there, looking forward to the next one! I'd like to take my son with me, but he'd just sit there fidgeting- he's much better at outdoor festivals. Can't wait for Cropredy!
Trunkles, are you going to Eliza and the Ratcatchers at Nettlebed? If you are I'll come and introduce myself. If not, I expect there'll be plenty of other chances! The t-shirt would be a great idea! Or maybe we could adopt a tiara/ fez type thing like the Talkawhile board.

When are they at Nettlebed?! That one completely slipped under the radar... so long as I can get tickets yes I will be there. Count on it.

I, too, missed you once again, but then again I missed lots of people whilst rushing about. Sorry. One day we will meet.
After busy weekend for all of us again (both those attending and those working), Sunday evening at QI proved to be the perfect calming antidote we all needed. The champagne was a lovely surprise, even though I spoilt the presentation a bit by being late!
Thanks to everyone who made it such a good weekend for us all.
We are indeed planning next years festival as we exit from this years. We have some new ideas to explore (thanks Jon) and will try to make next years even better
I hope it will include John & Jon in one incarnation or other.

Oops, I didn't mean Nettlebed, I meant The Stables! Sorry! It's a week today, so not too long to wait!
Nick- when I said it was a shame they weren't on for long, I meant that particular set. It wasn't meant as any kind of criticism, I know they did loads over the weekend, I just meant that I think the headlining act should get longer that the supporting acts, that's all.

Hello Trunkles, what did you think of the Stables gig? I really enjoyed it. I'm sorry I thought you were your mum! Still, it's nice to put a face to an avatar!

He, he... no worries, you woudn't believe how offen that happens! It was nice to put a name to a face at last and I'm sure that we will cross paths again some time soon.
I really enjoyied the gig last night and dare I say it? It many have even been better than the OFF set, and I wouldn't have said that a week ago! It was great to hear so many new(er) tracks coming in to the set and with something of Bellowhead about them as well, clearly time for a new CD (hint, hint! ).
