What a really, really shitty thing ('scuse the language if you're of a sensitive disposition) to happen!
Do you think they realised what they were nicking?
I didn't know there was a likely black market in Melodeons!!!!!
I hope (however unlikely) that he gets them back. Thames Valley Police are nice, but they won't be combing the Oxfordshire landscape.....
deepest sympathies Squeezy

I am indeed of the opinion that Group Hugs are the cure for all ills, personal, social, political. (If the house of commons had a mandatory weekly one then I'm sure the country would feel happier!)
Can we achieve a virtual one tho'?

I think we ought to try. I definitely think there's not enough hugs in the world, and that it would be a much happier place if we hugged more. There's nothing like a warm, friendly hug - I'm up for it!!

Hugs are great. Even cats are good, when all is bleak, hug one. Could do with a good hug meself, horrible realisation that I spent all of 2003 single. That's nothing next to the loss of that Oakwood though, the most gorgeous box on the English folk scene : (
We should all capture Squeezy on the Friday night of Chelt folk fest, and force hug him. Then ply him with drinks...
Virtual hugs to all,

Is he there on Friday then? I thought they were there on the Sunday. Any day's a good day for a hug though. And I hate to think that Jon might be feeling left out, so I think I'll include him in my bodily actions!!
Anyone else going to Cheltenham? We'll probably be going on the Saturday, 'en famille'.

Which reminds me - I must organise an alternative form of transport. I hate that 'really enjoy your pint but suddenly remember your driving so cannot have another' realisation.

Squeeze bums?!! Definitely not!! Hugs are supposed to be done in a completely friendly, a-sexual way. (but when does a hug become a cuddle ............)

Not going... am in a play this sat (hurrah) and stony broke anyway (not hurrah)
So I'll have to join in the virtual hugs instead!
Is it poss to have a group cuddle? With so many people it's not intimate enough... (or is it? with a;l this squezzing talk I might have to start revising my opinion!)

Woo! I finally get the chance to sort of join in!
I wish squeezing bums were allowed...a thought tho...if squeezy is called squeezy is he allowed to squeeze our bums as his name suggests? Or is it merely a name that invites the squeezing of his own from others?
Knowing the answer to that may solve the platonic/hug/cuddle/huggle problem

Oooh, see what happens when I'm not here for a bit?
Still catching up on what's up, but I must say that Fotherington produces some of the best virtual hugs in the world. And even better real ones. I think it's to do with being tall, and generally a Good Egg.
And I'll add mine to the general group hugginess.

I was wondering how long it would take you to post on this topic, hollyberry, and I was out by almost two weeks. I think hugs all round are probably safest, and you're right that cuddles almost certainly mean Intentions.
Thanks for the compliment, hollyberry. 's only cos you're so huggable that I get such good results, tho.

PS. <hollyberry mode>Oooh! Sparkly new section on Bellowhead added to website</hollyberry mode> I can only hope the stomp box was handed on with a suitably loud ceremony. Anyone else going to see S&B at C# on the 7th? And how can we make an effort to console Squeezy?

Aah. Thanks for the tip-off Fotherington. I hate to admit I'm rather sad as I have an icon on the desk-top which goes straight into the message board, so I don't get to see the main page!! But what I want to know is, what is Jon staring at/thinking? Maybe we could have a caption competition?!!
I didn't know you played the concertina John - English or Anglo?
Well, I can't wait to hear them - should be great. I'll definitely be at Sidmouth, so I'll see them then if not before.

Beard post!
Anyway, just as you say, Mrs. K. Lady M's better off waiting if you only get the outlandish sort of knight you get round these messageboards. I seem to remember hollyberry complaining about the lack of solvent non-outlandish knights in London as well.
I'm definitely at Oxford Folk Festival, since friends with one band playing there and very good friends with another. I would be killed if I didn't and so will get the first Bellowhead gig. Anyone else coming along? Spare a thought for botticelli, though. She's organising the whole thing, and may well therefore be too busy to come.
Can't go to any of Sidmouth, dammit. I'm even going to be down in that area of the country, but I've got a week-long event I've agreed to work backstage at and then a family holiday in the Isle of Wight.
Can't think of an intelligent caption, even if that photo is begging for one.

On a completely random note (and a brazen attempt to get my own beardiness up on this forum) why isn't there mention of Graham Metcalfe's beard in the rank descriptions? Can't find a photo online, but if Edward Lear didn't exist, we'd have had to invent him to describe it.

Oooh! Fotherington is too nice especially since I (er, indirectly) kept him up all night Sunday. Also too nice about Graham who did his best to join in. We all need spanking.
But I'm not too bothered about missing Bellowhead given the fabulous rehearsal sesh a couple of weeks ago. Organiser schmorganiser. I'm doing as little as possible; the funniest bits are when the mobile goes off when I'm walking down Cowley Road and have to pop into the laundry or something to talk properly, or closing deals while filling shopping bags at Tescos. Soooo professional.
Is it not allowed to say who the Fotherington friends are - some kind of betrayal to the John and Jon love-in? I'm sure we've all got elastic hearts. So: at Oxford F-Festival please come and see Jessica & Al Marshall - the blurb isn't on the website yet but is:
Jessica & Al Marshall - Introducing a talented new duo to the festival circuit, committed to hard-core English trad. Melodeonist Al (19) has played for Ducklington Morris for years. Jessica (17) plays fiddle and recorder and sings. She also dances - solo, with Ducklington Morris, and young 'superside' Offspring. Their percussive, crunchy style is guileless and utterly authentic - the English 'pure drop'.
Hope that's accurate because I forgot to check when their birthdays are & whether they agree with this tag. Hey ho. As for Inflatable Buddha, well, er. Probably the most extreme band we've got on. Hurdy gurdy, melodica, tabla, double bass and operatic vocals; the songwriter front man is also a performance poet & it's all violently unusual but really bitingly good.
Anyway that's the stuff I'm most looking forward to.
As for the squeezing bottoms thing. Has anybody been at a Jon & John gig where the MC says 'haven't they got lovely bums?' (I HATE bum. And arse. Bottom is best, especially said in a shocked posh voice). A couple of years ago at a gig this happened (and apparently it wasn't the first time) and the lads nearly dropped the instruments and looked furious and objectified. It probably would have been less objectionable if she were young & fit, of course. Pervy MCs ey, what is to be done?

<terry-thomas>"Well, hello botticelli. *So* pleased to meet you."</terry-thomas>. Pleasant shades of the Castle Anthrax also spring to mind, unpleasantly dispelled by the thought of Graham in a floaty white dress.

Do you know, I'm pretty sure that *is* how the professionals work....
And yes, come along to Al and Jessica, and the Inflatable Buddhas (why do I keep on trying to write Budgerigars?), who are very good as well: excellent lyrics, probably now further honed by the lead vocal's chairing the Hammer and Tongue poetry slam.
