Hi thereJust wondering who is going to Sidmouth this year. After being transported there virtually by the aid of a digital camera, computer and Mrs K (and of course being held in the lovely Mr Spiers hands(virtualy of course!!). Myself and the lovely Mr C (and my Mum and Dad!!) are going to be there in person this year.Anyone else going?I think we should all meet up and go to the Bellowhead stuff and hold up banners with 'befuddled'written on them or other such words. Although this may put them off what they are doing.Anyway I will stop rambling now.Rachel

Not, I'm afraid. It's really annoying because I committed myself to working at something that last year was the week *before* Sidders. This year, though....

And since about ten people doing the Cornish Six(er, Twenty)-Hand Reel about three feet away from the band didn't put them off at Towersey last year, I should think only setting fire to their boots would do it.

ME!  ME!

I'll be there for the whole week - accommodation already booked - yippee!

It'll be great to meet you in person - definitely after a Bel:lowHe:aD or J&J gig.  We had a good turn-up last year - let's hope it'll be better this year!  Maybe we could get a 'befuddled' T-shirt sorted out - Miss A, you're in charge of publicity aren't you?

Hurray,  I will finally get to meet you in person Mrs K.  Perhaps you could knit tank tops(!!!!).  They could have 'be' on the front and 'fuddled' on the back  OR  we could have matching ones with 'be' on one and 'fuddled' on the other although we would have to stand next to each other the whole time we were wearing them other wise people might get confused and stand the right way round other wise we would spell fuddledbe which makes no sense!!

We have our Campsite booked, we decided not to go to the Festival campsite after the torrential rain of 2002, so we are on a campsite about a mile away from Sidmouth.  We are in our tent and my Mum and Dad have got the luxury of a Static Caravan!!

Oh please come to Sidmouth Swirls, it would be great to meet you.  if you cant come you will have to do what I did last year and go by means of cyberspace and a little help from your friends, perhaps it could be your turn to be held by Mr Spiers

Anyway bye for now

That wouldn't be the Kings Down site would it?  We camped there in - when was it - 97?  The really wet year.  Unfortunately, I forgot the raincover for the pushchair!  We bailed out in the end, and a thoroughly miserably time was had by all.  But I'm sure THIS year will be MUCH better!!

I'm sure the boys would love to help out with some cyber-holding - maybe it's Jon's turn this year?!

I'd happily be cyber-held by any of the two

Or any of you in a photo for that matter!

But seriously...it might have to wait til the following year, what with surveys and renovations and kitchens and bed/cooker/washing machine buying...

I hate being old...officially...I have decided...

Maybe when I get through the other side of old it's not so bad

How about I try teaching the Brownies and Guides how to draw knotwork, and we use some of the results as a basis for a knitting pattern (it makes my programme planning easier if I can think of something for them to do).

That way I can contribute even if I don't make it to Sidmouth (which looks quite likely, unless I do complicated things with day tickets)

Hi there

Mrs K ......the campsite is called Oakdown , I think it is about a mile from SIdmouth.

Sidmouth in the rain is a bit miserable.

There were lots of natural springs coming up under peoples feet in the Ham Marquee in 2002 (that was quite funny).  I hope it doesnt rain this year as I wouldnt want to get the tank tops soggy.......they would stretch......!!!!

The tank top designs sound good Hollyberry

Will report back end March *salutes*

Now I come to think about it does anyone else spot the potential for an online cottage (oh dear!) industry?

Spiers and Boden Knitwear.....providers to damp (and slightly campsite musty) folk fest goers everywhere!

(I know its unethical to use Holly's brownies as unpaid labour, but keeping out the rain at Sidmouth really is a community service initiative. On a related note Does anyone have one of those classic "I survivded Sidmouth" shirts with the mud splat on?)

I'm sure we can 'pay' them with badges and stickers.  They'll do anything if there's a badge in it for them, and almost anything if there's a sticker involved.  Terrible pot-hunters, really.  Community Action is a very good plan, just before the Venture badge gets made obsolete along with the toadstool.  I digress.

Must write the knotwork into the diary.  I'm sure we'll get something pretty, and I can probably relate it quite nicely to St Patrick's Day if I try hard enough!

Hi there

We definately must get a Spiers and Boden messageboard get together planned  for those who are going to be at Sidmouth this year.  It would be great to meet up with people and put faces to names (and avataars!!!!).

Who's up for it?!!

I'll be there!

Good idea about the avatars.  We could all get T-shirts made up with our avatars on the front so we can recognise one-another, or failing that an A4 printout sellotaped to our fronts!

Who's up for it .... sunday night .... LNE??

ME!!!

I like the A4 printout idea, although I would say it's more suited to our male members, as we have lumpy-bumpy bits that don't work so well with the sellotape!!!  Failing that, I'll wear some knitting needles!!

Can it be early on Sunday night?  I'm not sure I can get the time off work on Monday...

Incidentally, the Guides managed celtic knotwork, but not in any great quantity, and they all took it home with them...  This, however, was still a result, since the considered opinion of my helper for the evening was that they wouldn't achieve it at all.  No wonder so many of them give up at things if that's the general attitude they receive.

I shall see what I can produce meself...

Can I wear sprigs of holly in lieu of sellotape?

Hi Guys

I'm glad you will be there Squeezy (it wouldn't be the same without you!!!(and Jon of course)).  I will be there Sunday night LNE with my avataar firmly sellotaped to my front (and my other half, Martyn, and my mum and dad probably!!!!(not sellotaped to my front!!)).  If of course I can work out how to print it out (the avataar) to A4 size (technology isnt my strong point).

Oh I can't wait for Sidmouth...it seems such a long time since Sidmouth 2002 (2years in fact).  I hope we get better weather this year.

It will be great to meet up with people properly (hurray!!)

You missed the good weather last year. Gorgeous sunshine the whole week. Thought t was always like that until everyone recounted their tales of previous years.

It's right put me off going this year. Don't want to spoil what is still an excellent memory of my first ever festival. I can guarantee that it'll rain this year if I go, so will probably give it a miss. I'll warn you if I change my mind though, just so you make sure you pack your welllies.

Maybe we should wear our avatars to all the festivals. That way we'll always have a friend (cue spooky music and strange looks).

Oooh, perhaps I could help you drive and with the petrol, since will probably be in a similar position, but need to get back to Camden (however, such things as trains do, I believe, exist?)

Or am I being pushy here?

Please may I have a lift?

Such things as trains do indeed exist, though it's many a year since one was seen in Sidmouth unfortunately. Can you believe that in the early years there was even a 'Festival Special' that ran direct from London to Sidmouth? That was back when we had a public transport system worthy of the name...

(Yes i know such things as buses exist too)

..Such things as buses may indeed exist but appear to be shy and secretive creatures unless in the middle of a big city (they certainly are round here, I think they don't like trees and country roads!).

Holly...I'll have to have a look at my summer schedule (have to do training dig and have not yet had dates confirmed) and also get strange rattling nose in car sorted before I take it on a long journey...a few months yet but how the time flies these days!!!!

Alas I am but a newbie...but I'm going!! Woooo!! Erm, yeah

I'll be taking the train down from Reading, staying either at the Festival campside, or at a private house that is letting rooms (waiting to hear back from the latter).

To say I am excited is an understatement. It'll be my first Sidmouth (and, possibly my last?? boo to that ), and I can't wait to go. Did a meet-up get organised? It'll be nice to see everyone.

Until then, much money-saving will take place. Take care all,

Excellent news Sarah!!  Will you be able to make the Sunday night LNE?

We'll have to arrange an alternative group huddle for those who can't make Sunday!  John - do you know exactly when and where you will be duo-ing on Mon and Wed?

Yours excitedly
